So, you’ve made the first step to dental health and selected a new dentist. The more you know about what to expect during your first visit with Battle Ground Dental as an adult patient, the less anxious you will feel. Our experienced and professional staff will help you feel at ease.
What to Expect During Your First Appointment
You will likely need dental x-rays. Unless you have had them performed recently and have brought them with you or asked your previous dentist to send them. No dentist can or will start any course of dental care without first using x-rays to get a good perspective on what’s going on in your mouth. A panoramic x-ray can show both your upper and lower jaw in one picture. This can be helpful in diagnosing bite and alignment issues.
Be prepared to discuss any previous dental treatment you have had with your new dentist. Understanding what treatment or procedures you have had previously allows us to plan the best course of treatment for you going forward.
Be prepared to discuss any and all current dental problems you may be having. Even if you’re just in for a routine cleaning, we find that many adults wait far too long before bringing potential issues to their dentist’s attention. The earlier you inform us of potential issues the better. When you wait, treatment of issues only becomes more complicated, invasive, and often more expensive
If you have any health issues or are currently taking medication for a condition like diabetes, heart disease or hypertension, be sure to let us know about it. Many tooth and gum problems are related to medical issues and their treatment. The doctor will also examine your teeth and gums, looking for cavities or other problems.
Your first visit is designed to introduce you to the team at Battle Ground Dental and evaluate what the best individualized treatment plan and course of action for you is. Each treatment plan is custom tailored to the needs and unique situation of each patient. We look forward to meeting you, and if you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
